You can read NodeCatalog without an account. Here is what happens when you open a page, what is stored and what stays under your control.

Reading without signing up
There is no registration, newsletter, comment system or submission form. Reading an article does not require your name, email address or payment details. This notice covers the public pages on nodecatalog.com and www.nodecatalog.com.
Cookies and tracking
These pages do not set cookies, run analytics or use advertising trackers. They contain no JavaScript and do not save a visitor identifier or language preference in your browser. Changing language simply opens the corresponding page; you can bookmark that address to return to it.
The page’s fonts and styling do not require a connection to an outside provider. Opening an article does not automatically load the websites listed as its sources.
Information needed to load a page
Your browser still has to connect to the hosting infrastructure. That involves technical information, such as a connection’s IP address, the requested page, the time and information the browser sends with its request. An absence of cookies does not mean that no connection data is processed.
HTTPS encrypts the connection between your browser and the website. It does not make a visit anonymous to the infrastructure handling that connection.
Diagnostic records
Routine access logging is disabled in this website’s web server. In other words, that server is not configured to add an ordinary visit-by-visit entry to its access log. It is configured to record critical errors. If one occurs, the diagnostic entry may include details of the request or connection, which can help investigate the failure.
The web server is set to retain the current error log and up to 14 archived log files. During routine maintenance, a non-empty log can be archived and a new file started. So 14 files does not mean 14 days of storage. This setting does not determine how long separate records are kept elsewhere in the hosting or network infrastructure.
When you follow a source link
Source links take you to another website. If you choose to follow one, your browser connects to that site and its privacy practices apply. That site may use accounts, cookies or other features that NodeCatalog does not use. Check its notice before entering personal information.
What you can control
Your browser may keep a browsing history and cached copies of pages under its own settings. You can manage these on your device. Clearing them does not delete records held by a server or hosting provider.
